Key clamps
A key clamp is a weldless, modular steel tube and fitting system for building structures from common sized and widely available steel tubing.
It’s used in the construction of handrails, balustrades, barriers, even furniture.
Allen key fittings are used to connect steel tubing. They were originally used as handrail fittings but are now hugely popular for clothing rails, shelving, bed frames, sports/workout equipment and more. Tube clamps lock the tube in place using a simple allen key, providing a great alternative to welding and providing a fast method of fabricating steel tube.
At ProWeld, our key clamp parts are a high-quality galvanised malleable cast iron fittings, manufactured in excess of European Standards. We stock all fittings for size 4 tube (48.7mm OD). The leading modular system for handrails, guardrails, railings and edge protection available suits tubular steel sizes from 26.9mm to 60.3mm.
We stock 6 metre lengths of galvanised tubes and provide a cutting service for these pipes to be cut to length. The inner size of the fitting equals the outer diameter size of the galvanised tube used. Our galvanised tube diameters are 33.7mm, 42.4mm, 48.3mm and 60.3mm.

The chain hook is used to locate chains across openings. It’s recommended that one end of the chain is fixed using a Q clamp fitting reference 173M and held in place with a nut and bolt.

Another key clamp part we stock is the 143-1 Wall Mounted Handrail Bracket 26.9mm.
The wall mounting bracket for handrails can also be used to tie back structures to wall or to hold kicking plates on a guardrail. This fitting has countersunk holes and is not recommended as a structural fixing. This fitting has no ability to join tubes.

The 149-2 Inline External Tube Connector 33.7mm is an inline external tube connector for joining two tubes of the same diameter. This fitting is not recommended to be used in high load applications. For a smooth inline joint the Q clamp fitting 150 can be used

The 101-5 Short Tee 60.3mm is another item available.
It’s typically used on straight and level guardrail to connect the vertical to the top rail or end/mid rail to the vertical.
This fitting cannot be used to join tubes for the top rail. For this, 104 Long Tee should be used instead.
